What is Abilify withdrawal?
Abilify is an antipsychotic medication that is used to treat bipolar disorders, Schizophrenia, severe depression, etc. Aripiprazole is the common medicine that is sold under the brand name of Abilify. It works as a partial dopamine agonist and in cases where the medication has been taken for a long period of time, the brain gets used to it and cannot cope with a sudden absence. In such cases abilify withdrawal is observed. A psychiatrist must be consulted whenever the consumption of the medication is to be started or stopped to avoid it.

Hi,
I am on prescribed aripiprazole 5mg. I have only taken 2.5mg for the last year though.
I am trying to stop it by taking it every other day, as I cannot cut the tablet up any smaller than 2.5mg.
I have also restarted Modafinil 300mg very recently and I am suffering anxiety and panic.
I don’t know whether it’s likely the Modafinil or the change in aripiprazole.
I tried coming off aripiprazole before and I got so depressed, I had to restart it.
Nobody is monitoring it because my neuropsychiatrist discharged me when I ‘missed an appointment’ (his admin staff didn’t tell him) and my GP won’t take responsibility for it.
What do you think?
I am taking other supplements, have just started Rhodiola and Ashwaganda and am on thyroid medication.
Thanks.
